About this job
As a lecturer within our academy you will be given the opportunity to teach and help our students grow into young professionals within the field of leisure & events management. You will work together with other lecturers and supporting staff in an informal and close community. In addition to teaching, you will supervise students during their internship or graduation and help develop educational materials. Your knowledge and relevant networks within the industry will contribute to further strengthen our connections. You will be teaching students in the propaedeutic year, but will also supervise students during their placements or graduation projects. As a lecturer at the Academy for Leisure & Events (ALE) you focus mainly on guiding students. Our students work in small-scale learning communities on different forms of challenges. You are the person connecting these challenges, different students, industry and practice together, to create meaningful learning experiences. You are not the one who knows all the answers, but you are the one who is guiding students where to find it. At BUas we operate on a team-based working principle where responsibilities and authority are assigned to the teams within the Academy. You will start with this position in the new academic year on 19 August.
What do we offer?
The salary for this position amounts to a monthly minimum of € 4,234.28 and a monthly maximum of € 5.936.77 (gross amounts based on full-time employment);
This position will be at level 11 of the CAO HBO (collective labour agreement), depending on your education level. Your official job title will be that of lecturer;
This position involves a one-year employment contract with the possibility of conversion into an indefinite employment contract;
Your commuting expenses will be fully reimbursed if you travel by public transportation;
You will receive an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and 8% holiday allowance;
You will receive compensation for health insurance;
You will also be awarded professional development hours every year and approximately eleven weeks of holiday entitlements for a full-time position;
You will be working on a green, sustainable campus near the city centre of Breda;
Moving from abroad to Breda in the Netherlands? We provide support and financial reimbursements in the case of relocation and settling-in in the Netherlands. Dutch tax authorities may offer tax reduction to applicants from abroad (which makes tax rates comparable to the UK and US).
What do we ask of you?
You have a relevant master’s degree;
You are passionate about your work and would like to share this passion with our students and others. You have creative and fresh ideas on how to share this information and knowledge;
You have teaching experience or are willing to obtain a didactics certificate;
You know the tricks of the trade, which can be seen from your knowledge of and experience in organising, entrepreneurship, marketing or business consultancy in the field of leisure & events;
You know the role of leisure & events in society, and the role of strategic organisations in this domain in the process of positioning and developing cities, destinations and brands;
You have knowledge of and experience in the financial side of the business;
You will be working in an international and intercultural setting. Therefore, having excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are a necessity.
